Euro 2012 Fantasy Player Pool - Day 6 Roundup

An explosion of scoring in Group B led to some big moves on the Fantasy leaderboard on Day 6, and the contenders for the big money are starting to pull away from the pretenders, permanently.

Speaking as a pretender, this sucks.  As a fan of drama and scenario generation, however, I'm lovin it.  Barring a Konoplianka hat trick or two, I can start to make peace with the fact that this isn't gonna be my four years.  But I am still here to serve those of you in the pool with the same dedication, hopefully a few of y'all enjoy these writeups to make it worth the effort.

The exact opposite of "Doubling the Dutch Delight"
The day's big heroes were once again on the German side.  A huge percentage of the pool members have German captains, but most of those are Ozil. The few guys who got double scoring  from Gomez and Schweinsteiger today shored up some very valuable points.

After spending this morning trying to generate positive energy for the Dutch, it hurt to see today's disastrous result for them. Yet again, I didn't really get to sit and watch and focus on the action the way I want to (I'm blessed/cursed to just have a LOT of other stuff going on in my life this month), but from the commentary I've followed and from the highlight packages I've seen, my amateur diagnosis is: waaaaay too much Robben, not near enough Sneijder. I know this guy agrees with me:

After the first two games in Group B, it's tough to tell which is harder to believe: the fact that Holland has not technically been eliminated from the tournament yet, or the fact Germany hasn't officially advanced to the quarters. Talk about scenarios!  But as we move past the halfway point of the group stage, people with an eye toward winning this pool are starting to get very focused on who they'll have left playing for them in the knockout stages.

One thing's for sure, new leader Scott W. will be flying the Portugese flag proudly in his heart for the next week.  As one of only two owners to get the windfall from Pepe's flying flick, he's going to want a few extra opportunities to press that advantage.

Other big climbers on Day 6 include Kyle M. and Michael C.  Kyle became, along with Scott, one of the first two people to go over the 30 points in a day mark, firming up his slot in the Top 5 a bit.  Michael is trying to come from waaaaay back in the pack, but has to be happy with today's effort.

On the other side, Rob M just baaaaaaarely eked his way to a double-digit score on Day 6, and finds himself now dropped down into the bottom 3.  Shoulda taken Kron-Dehli, bro.
